The human voice is at the heart of everything I do.
After graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Music from SOAS University of London, I began my career performing with African and folk music ensembles across the UK and Internationally. Extensive time spent in West Africa and Zimbabwe profoundly shaped my musical language, where song, rhythm and community are woven naturally into everyday life.
Alongside my performance career, I have built a long-standing community arts practice, leading choirs with Wren Music, co-directing Wellsong in South Devon, co-founding cross-cultural arts organization Shumba Arts and creating my own projects including a Womens Voice Camp and immersive music programmes in The Gambia. My work explores the relationship between singing, creativity, wellbeing and belonging, creating opportunities for people to discover confidence, connection and expression through the voice.
Recent performance work includes Enter the Circle, an Arts Council England-funded collaboration with Ombiviolum, and touring nationally as a vocalist with Baka Beyond and improvised performances with the Devon Singers Collective.
I continue to develop my practice through collaborative vocal improvisation, circle song, movement and composition.
I am now entering a new chapter in my artistic journey, bringing together the many strands of my experience to create original performance work rooted in my own creative voice.
My life has been a weave of music and movement, community and creativity, motherhood and performance.
Each continues to shape the way I sing, create and connect with others.
